Why do some people spend a lot of time in the bathroom?

    1. They are procrastinators

Procrastinators spend a lot of time doing most activities. A typical procrastinator will spend more time in the bathroom doing the normal activities that people do, but they will just take more time to do them.

    2. They are escaping

Some people lock themselves up in the bathroom to escape from certain responsibilities or events. A teen, for example, can spend more time in the bathroom to avoid meeting certain guests or family members.

    3. They are overly stressed

When some people get stressed, especially men, they might seek a place that makes them feel safe. In such a case, the man might spend a lot of time in the bathroom in order to escape from the life demands awaiting him outside.

    4. They watch porn

Some people escape to the bathroom to watch porn knowing that it’s one of the places where they will hardly get caught, as it would be hard for someone to suddenly walk in on them. (See The psychological benefits of breaking porn addiction)

    5. They are checking their smartphones

A typical person can spend more time in the bathroom if they decide to check their smartphones. In such a case, the person might spend some extra time doing activities on their smartphone.

    6. They are trying to fix their looks

Some people spend more time in the bathroom because they are trying to fix their looks or make themselves look better. People who are not satisfied with their looks might spend more time in the bathroom.

    7. They are crying

Some people lock themselves up in the bathroom when they are extremely sad and don’t want others to know. In such a case, a person can cry in the bathroom to avoid being seen. This is more common with men than women. (See Why do we feel better after crying?)

    8. Bowel problems

A person could spend more time on the toilet if they have bowel problems or any digestive disorders. In such a case, the person will spend a long time in the bathroom.

    9. Marriage problems

A person could spend a lot of time in the bathroom if they are not happy with their marriage. In such a case, the person might prefer to not be distracted by their spouse.

    10. They are talking to someone

Women go to public bathrooms in groups to discuss things and talk about some matters. A person could go to the bathroom to talk to someone or to make a phone call.
