There are at least 118 pyramids in Egypt. Among them, three are considered the most important. The 3 pyramids represent the three rulers for whom they were built and were roughly built around 2550 to 2490 B.C. The three pyramids are known as Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

  • Khufu is the tallest among the three with a height of 481 feet. Khufu is sometimes also known as Cheops or the Great Pyramid of Giza. Khufu is the northernmost pyramid which is also the oldest among the three and this king was the second ruler of the 4th dynasty.
  • It is followed by Khafre, which has a height of 471 feet. The middle pyramid was built for king Khafre, who was the fourth of the eight kings of the 4th dynasty.
  • The smallest amongst these three is Menkaure, which has a height of 213 feet. The last and the southernmost pyramid was built for king Menkaure, who was the fifth king of the 4th dynasty.

The pyramids of Giza symbolized the power of pharaohs and their status. These monumental tombs were constructed by three different rulers of the Old Kingdom from the 4th dynasty.
