4. What are Tertiary Colors?

Out of 12 colors present in the color wheel, the majority (½) is occupied by the tertiary colors. There are six tertiary colors present they comprise Red-Orange, Yellow-orange, Yellow-green, Blue-green, Blue-violet, and Red-violet, and are formed by mixing the secondary colors with the primary colors. They are divided into two categories, warm and cold colors.

The colors which are right next to red are called warm colors and the ones next to green are known as cooler colors. The colors under these two categories are fixed and are not variable. But for instance, hues from the same category can be warmer or cooler than one another. To give you an idea, the color red is warmer than yellow while yellow is cooler than red.
