17 Ways to make your Hair Grow Faster

    By Alex WilliamsJanuary 31, 2024
    1. Follow a healthy diet

Maintaining a healthy diet full of essential minerals and vitamins will make your hair grow faster. Include foods high in Vitamins A, B, C and E, iron, magnesium, zinc and copper. Vegetables, fruits and dairy products are good options.

    2. Use castor oil

Castor oil does wonders for hair growth, as it is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids such as omega-9. Mix the castor oil with almond, coconut or olive oil and massage your scalp with it. Leave the mixture on for 30-45 minutes then shampoo your hair.

    3. Massage your scalp

Massage your scalp in a circular motion for a couple of minutes in order to stimulate blood flow to the scalp which strengthens the hair follicles.

    4. Deep condition your hair

Deep condition your hair once a week to promote hair growth by using a hot oil treatment or deep conditioning hair mask.

    5. Flip your hair upside down

It is believed that flipping your hair upside down for a couple of minutes daily improves blood circulation and promotes hair growth.

    6. Steer clear of stress

Stress has several negative effects on the body including hair loss and decreased hair growth. Try to lead a stress-free life to protect your health and hair. (See The body language signs of stress)

    7. Get enough sleep

Hair growth hormones are released during sleep; therefore, it’s important to get the required amount of sleep if you’re trying to increase hair growth. (See How to Have a Good Night Sleep?)

    8. Use an egg hair mask

Using an egg hair mask promotes hair growth as eggs are filled with protein and other essential minerals that are vital for faster hair growth.

    9. Rinse your hair with herbs

Some herbs stimulate hair growth such as rosemary, catnip and sage. Steep one of these herbs in hot water then use it to rinse your hair after you shampoo and condition it. Green tea has also been linked with increased hair growth.

    10. Take supplements

Taking supplements such as folic acid, biotin, fish oil and flaxseed oil increase hair growth.

    11. Use aloe vera on your hair

Mix aloe vera with lemon juice and apply it on your hair. Do this once every week or two, as aloe vera stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss.

    12. Rinse your hair with cold water

Rinsing your hair with cold-water for a few seconds before you get out of the shower can stimulate hair growth and keep your hair healthy.

    13. Apply apple cider vinegar

Add some apple cider vinegar mixed with water into a spray bottle, spray it on your hair and rinse it out after 2 minutes before getting out of the shower. Apple cider vinegar is known for its stimulation of hair growth.

    14. Don’t wash your hair daily

Your hair produces natural oil that is beneficial for your scalp and the hair growth process. Showering daily strips your hair of its natural oil. Therefore, it’s healthier to wash your hair 2-3 times a week.

    15. Use silicone-free shampoo

Opt for a shampoo that is silicone-free, as silicone prevents hair growth by depriving the hair of nutrients and blocking out moisture.

    16. Drink water

Keeping your body well hydrated is essential for overall hair health and hair growth, as it keeps your hair moisturized.

    17. Exercise regularly

Exercising has countless benefits for the body including promoting hair growth. Exercising improves blood circulation leading to faster hair growth.
