1 Billion is Equal to How many Lakhs?

    Knowledge

In mathematics, numbers can be defined with the help of their place value, which goes from right to left and is represented in two different ways: The Indian System and The International System. The place value charts help to determine the position in the place value chart according to the number. The Indian numeral system goes in the sequence of unit places, or ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousand, lakhs, ten lakhs, and crores, whereas the International system goes according to million, billion, trillion, and so on. Do you know 1 billion is equal to how many lakhs? Let’s also find out how many lakhs is a crore.

    1. How much means 1 Billion?

One billion can be described as 1,000,000,000 or one thousand million on a shorter scale. (See How many Hundreds are in a Million?)

    2. 1 Billion is Equal to how many Lakhs?

The International numeral system uses the place value of billions and according to the Indian numeral system or rupees, one billion equals 10,000 lakhs.

Therefore, it can be written as 1 Billion equal sums of 1,000,000,000 Rupees and in words 10 Thousand Lakhs.

1 billion is equal to how many lakhs can be studied by comparing the International system to the Indian system which is as follows:

    International System:

    • One =1
    • Ten = 10
    • Hundred = 100
    • Thousand = 1,000
    • Ten Thousand = 10,000
    • Hundred Thousand = 100,000
    • One Million= 1,000,000
    • Ten Million= 10,000,000
    • Hundred Million = 100,000,000
    • One Billion = 1,000,000,000

    Indian System:

    • One = 1
    • Ten = 10
    • Hundred = 100
    • Thousand = 1,000
    • Ten Thousand = 10,000
    • One Lakh = 1,00,000
    • Ten Lakh = 10,00,000
    • One Crore (equivalent to Hundred Lakh) = 1,00,00,000
    • Ten Crore (equivalent to Thousand Lakh) = 10,00,00,000
    • Hundred Crore (equivalent to Ten Thousand Lakh) = 100,00,00,000

So, to answer, 1 billion is equal to how many lakhs, it is understood that 1 billion is equal to ten thousand lakh, 1, 00, 00, 00,000 lakhs (See How to Write 1 Million in Numbers?)

    3. How many Lakhs are there in 100 Billion?

You already know that 1 billion is equal to how many lakhs? According to the International System, 1 billion = 1,000,000,000, therefore 100 billion = 100,000,000,000, and 1 lakh = 1,00,000.

1 billion is equal to 10,000 lakhs. To find out how many lakhs are there in 100 billion, we can divide 100 billion by 1 lakh,

i.e., 100,000,000,000/ 1,00,000, and you get the answer of 1,000,000. Therefore, 1,000,000 lakhs is there in 100 billion. (See How Much is 1 Billion Pennies?)

    4. How many Millions is Equal to 1 Billion?

According to the International System, 1 billion = 1,000,000,000 and 1 million = 1,000,000. To calculate how many millions are there in 1 billion, we can divide 1 billion by 1 million, which is 1,000,000,000/1,000,000, which gives us the answer of 1000.

Therefore, there are 1000 million in a billion. (See How much does a Million Dollars weigh in 20 Dollar Bills?)

    5. How many Billion is a Crore?

According to the International System, 1 billion = 1,000,000,000, and according to the Indian system, 1 crore = 1,00,00,000. To calculate how many billion is a crore, we can simply divide 1 crore by 1 billion.

Divide 1,00,00,000 by 1,000,000,000, which gives us the answer as 1/100 billion, i.e., 0.01 billion. Therefore, 0.01 billion is 1 crore. (See How Much is 300 Million in Numbers?)

    6. How much is a Crore?

A crore, also known as Koti, is a term used in the Indian numeral system. According to International standards, it is known as ten million. 1 crore is equal to 100 lakh in the Indian numbering system.

To understand how many billion is a crore, it is equal to 0.01 billion. Further, let’s see how many lakhs is a crore. (Read How Much is 1 Crore INR in USD?)

    7. How many Lakhs is a Crore?

According to the Indian number system, 1 lakh = 1,00,000 and 1 crore = 1,00,00,000; to find out how many lakhs is a crore, simply divide the two numbers, i.e., 1 crore/1 lakh, 1,00,00,000/1,00,000, yielding the answer 100.

Therefore it can be concluded that there are 100 lakhs in 1 crore. (See 1 Million has How Many Zeros?)

    8. How many is a Trillion?

One trillion equals 1,000,000,000,000, or one with 12 zeros. It is known as a million million. According to the International numeral system, a million has six zeroes and a billion has nine zeroes, whereas a late trillion has 12 zeroes. It can be expressed as 1000 billion. (See How long does it take to count to 1 trillion)

    9. How many Crores is a Trillion?

According to the Indian numbering system, 1 trillion equals 1 lakh crore. This Indian numbering system is followed in various other countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, etc. 1 crore is equal to 100,00,000 or 10 million, whereas 1 lakh crore forms 1 trillion, which is 1,000,000,000,000.

    10. What Number is after Trillion?

According to the International numeral system, a trillion is equal to 1,000,000,000,000. Now thereafter, a trillion comes a quadrillion, which continues as follows: quintillion, sextillion, septillion, octillion, nonillion, etc.

    • Trillion with 12 zeroes or 1,000,000,000,000
    • Quadrillion with 15 zeroes or 1,000,000,000,000,000
    • Quintillion with 18 zeroes or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000

The gap between trillion and quadrillion does have many numbers between them which have the word trillion within them, like hundred and thousand trillion. (Read What Comes After a Trillion?)

    11. Which is Bigger 1 Crore or 1 Billion?

    • One billion is calculated as 1,000,000,000 or a thousand million in numbers.
    • One crore is quoted as 100, 00,000 or hundred lakh, but in the International numeral system, it is 10,000,000 or ten million.

So, in comparison to a thousand million vs ten million, a thousand million sides are bigger. Therefore, this hereby clarifies that a billion is way bigger than a crore.

Place value charts help you to understand the positioning of numbers and their overall value. It is a starting point for the understanding of other base systems dependent on Indian and International terms. As a result, you should now understand that 1 billion is equal to how many lakhs and how many billion is a crore. Place value is not only used in mathematical calculations but also helps us make decisions that are used in our daily lives, such as determining costs, weight, distances, time, etc. Do share with your friends how many lakhs are there in 100 billion and how many lakhs is a crore.
