    1. Concept of 1/2

Half means ½, and when the object is divided into two parts, it is called the half of the whole. For example, if you cut an apple into two equal parts, each part is called one half of the apple, and we write it as ½.

    2. Understanding the fraction 1/3

When you divide anything into three equal parts, then each part of that specific thing is called one-third of the whole. It is denoted by the symbol 1/3. For example, if you cut a cake into three equal portions, then each part is called one-third of the cake. 1/3 tells 1 part out of three equal portions. (See What is half of 1/4cup?)

    3. What is half of 1/3?

To get half of anything, you divide it by 2. Hence, when you want to get half of 1/3, you would have to divide it by 2. Thus, for solving this as a math equation, you would have to write it-

      1/3 / 2

For dividing the fraction by a whole number, you would have to keep the numerator and multiply the denominator with the whole number-

      1 /3*2 = 1/6

Hence, the answer is 1/6. As two halves together make a whole, 1/6 plus 1/6 equals 1/3.

    4. What is the decimal answer of the half of 1/3?

As mention above, half of 1/3 is 1/6. Thus, when you divide 6 by 1, the decimal answer would come, which is 0.166666666666667.

    5. Conversion chart

Here is the conversion chart for other fraction as well:
