“Remarriage & Desires” is an 8-episode Korean drama that premiered on Netflix in July 2022. The story begins with Hye-Seung living a comfortable middle-class life with her husband Nam-Sik and daughter Min-Ji in the wealthy Gangnam district.
One day, Nam-Sik commits suicide by jumping off a building after his life is ruined by a ruthless lawyer named Jin Yoo-Hui. She had falsely accused him of rape and fraud, leading to his downfall.
A grieving Hye-Seung finds out about Rex and decides to sign up to take revenge on Yoo-Hui, who has also signed up looking for an elite husband. Rex is run by the calculating Choi Yoo-Sun, who matches clients purely based on profit and status rather than love.
3. Was Hye-Seung Really in Love With Hyung-Ju?
The two male leads are Hyung-Ju, a divorced single father whose mother forces him to join Rex, and Seok-Jin, a celebrity plastic surgeon hiding his poor family background. Both men develop an interest in Hye-Seung.
In the first half, Hye-Seung pretends to be interested in Hyung-Ju to get close to Yoo-Hui, who wants to match with him. However, she starts developing real feelings for the sincere Hyung-Ju.
Meanwhile, Yoo-Hui continues plotting ways to increase her status through marriage. In a climactic party event, Hye-Seung shocks everyone by announcing her engagement to Seok-Jin in front of Hyung-Ju and Yoo-Hui.
This causes chaos, as Hye-Seung starts having second thoughts while Seok-Jin has his own secret agenda. By the finale, Hye-Seung realizes she truly loves Hyung-Ju and wants to be with him. However, after her betrayal, he begins to move on.
Meanwhile, Yoo-Hui succeeds in trapping a chaebol heir into marriage. Hyung-Ju is pressured by Congressman Son to go through with marrying Yoo-Hui to protect the business merger. However, Hyung-Ju has evidence exposing Yoo-Hui’s crimes including her involvement in Nam-Sik’s death.
4. What Happens in Last Episode of Remarriage and Desires? Ending Explained
In the finale, Hyung-Ju meets with Yoo-Hui under the pretense that he has agreed to marry her. However, at the ceremony he publicly reveals her to be Son’s illegitimate daughter and exposes her crimes.
Hye-Seung is revealed to be alive, contrary to what was shown earlier. Together with Hyung-Ju and Ae-Ran, they take down Son and Yoo-Hui. Son is arrested while Yoo-Hui faces public disgrace.
In the final scene, Hye-Seung walks down the aisle to marry Hyung-Ju, showing she got her happy ending.
5. Will There be a Season 2 of Remarriage and Desires?
Meanwhile, Yoo-Sun returns to close down Rex but is approached by a mysterious man about reopening it, hinting at a potential second season.
The ending is left open-ended, with Hye-Seung and Hyung-Ju finally reuniting but unsure about their future together. Yoo-Hui also promises more scheming in potential future seasons.
