Matt said that some users don’t even include the important keywords others should type to find their sites. Matt said if you want people to find you when they type ‘San Diego chiropractic’ then those words need to be present on your site.

Jefferson: How important are tags?
Matt said that title tags matter because they are the first thing a user sees in Google search results. Matt said that the meta description tag is also important because it tells people more information about the search results they come across.

Matt Cutts: If you get the title and the description tag right, you can get more clicks
Matt Cutts said that if you got the title tag and description tag right then people might easily recognize the information on your website when they see it in the search results and so they are more likely to click on it.

Jefferson: How can someone get links to his website?
Matt said that starting a blog and participating in the ongoing coversation is a good idea to get links. He said that publishing interesting posts that appeals to people is the best way to get links without spamming anybody. (See Why do people link to other sites?)

Jefferson: What’s the most common misconception about getting your website found on Google?
Matt said that the biggest misconception webmasters have is believing that they have to pay anything to Google to get indexed or to rank well.

Matt: Buying ads has nothing to do with ranking
Matt said that some webmasters mistakenly believe that buying adds can help them rank well in Google and that this is not true at all. (See Why do websites have so many ads?)

Jefferson: I heard it takes 3-6 months to get found on Google?
Matt said that normally this is isn’t the case, as Google is so quick. Matt said that Google refreshes the index once a month and that they easily find new sites.

Matt: Go to Google.com/addurl to add your site
Matt said that you could expedite the process by going to Google.com/addurl and submitting your website there. He also said that you can submit a site map through Google webmaster tools to tell Google about the pages on your site.
