5. What is the Symbol and Charge of the Nitride Ion?
- The atomic number of Nitrogen is 7 which means it has seven electrons and seven protons when neutral.
- Nitride is an ion of metal Nitrogen formed when a nitrogen atom gains 3 electrons. It has an excess electron equal to the charge which makes it a negative ion. Therefore, it gains three electrons to become N3-, which becomes its symbol.
- Hence the total charge of the Nitride ion is -3.

6. What is the Name of NH4+?
To name the chemical compounds that are defined according to the international system called IUPAC, you must follow certain rules to recognize how it is formed. Ionic compounds are named after metal ions first and then nonmetal ions can be mono atomic or polyatomic. They are a set of polyatomic ions that comprise several atoms together such as the given NH4+ which is named as ammonium ion or ammonium cation.
