6. Which Book has the First Waffle Recipe?
Before the 14th century, no one thought to write down any specific recipe for waffles, but it was the late 14th century when someone thought to do so. Some anonymous writers mentioned the recipe in Le Ménagier de Paris (The Parisian Household Book). In the history of waffles, this book was a French guidebook mentioning behaviors that a woman should follow, gardening tips, recipes, sexual advice, and ways to run a household.
According to the researchers, this book was published in 1393 and the format is like an elderly husband addressing his young wife. The Vermersch family was right in their decision to change the name because it sure increased the demand. People loved these waffles so the family had to hire 10 people to slice the strawberries. They had set up 24 machines and several people were working on whipping the cream, piping it, and cooking the waffles.
11. What are the Types of Waffles?
Other than the Belgian waffle there are various other types of waffles available. The one we were talking about in the beginning is the American waffle while the other types are mentioned here. In the history of waffles, Pizzelle is an Italian cookie that is thin, golden brown, and crispy. It is cooked in a special pizzelle iron.
