We have identified and compiled a list of the most liberal cities in the United States. The United States is home to some of the most sought-after places to live in. When we talk about places that are growing and developing rapidly, it means these states or cities employ more progressive policies than the rest. These states enjoy greater liberties, religious freedom, higher wages, and stricter gun laws. However, they generally have higher taxes and more regulations too. So, there are pros and cons both. Anyway, here’s a list of the 6 most liberal cities in the United States.

1. California

California enjoys being one of the most liberal places in the world. From the legalization of weed to being forced to paint your roof white and the ban on plastic bags, this state has regulations for almost every environmental and social concern you could believe in. However, more liberalism brings in its own disadvantages. The unstable bureaucracy and bizarre pension packages paid by taxpayers have eventually, resulted in bankruptcy. But still, California is the most glamorous and sought-after state to live in for almost every liberal out there. (See Why do some people want to migrate to the United States?)

2. New Hampshire

New Hampshire lies on the southern border of Massachusetts to the west of Vermont, and to the east of Maine and the Atlantic Ocean, and to the northern border of Quebec. No income tax needs to be paid in New Hampshire except, for interests and dividends. The state has often, been in news for its moderate amendments and is particularly, famous for its liberal neighbors. Thus, it ranks high on the list of most liberal cities in the United States.

New York is an important focus for international diplomacy as the headquarter of the UN is situated here. Thus, it’s called the world’s capital as well. New York City within New York is considered to be one of the most liberal cities in the US. 4. Maryland

Maryland is yet another progressive state on this list. The reason for this is the policies of imposing increments in taxes, repealing of the death penalty, and grants of subsidy of over $1 billion to potential offshore wind farms. 5. Vermont

One of the major laws defining liberal policies passed by Vermont is the law of payment of union dues, compulsorily even for non-union workers. This is what the state terms as fair share and rightly so. The state of Vermont has some of the highest individual and corporate tax rates. Additionally, property tax rates are also high. This state is one of the few liberal states that enjoys its fair share of conservative policies scoring high on Second Amendment and gun rights issues. Thus, it ranks among the most liberal cities in the United States. (See Why the United States is called America?)

6. Rhode Island
