3. How are Frankenstein and Prometheus Alike?

According to the novel written by Mary Shelley, the character Victor Frankenstein creates an artificial man from the dead bodies and showers life on it. However, Prometheus is one of the Greek Titans, a god of fire who was associated with the creation of mortals and fire. Frankenstein and Prometheus are alike in a way because they both did something that humans were not allowed to do. They misused the powers that only God was supposed to have and they both paid for it.

4. What is a Common Theme Between Prometheus and Frankenstein?

The common theme between Prometheus and Frankenstein is that both of them had a common will to help humankind and society and make them free, away from any dependence. But they created something against nature and Gods and they both had to repay for it later. They both trifled in matters that they had no right to trifle with and it was only the Gods who had those rights.

According to Greek mythology, Prometheus was eternally punished for stealing the sacred fire by Zeus, the supreme God, for treason against all the Gods. And, in the novel, Frankenstein created an artificial human which eventually became a monster and killed people who were close to him.

5. What Differences does Victor Frankenstein Share with Prometheus?

Even though both Prometheus and Frankenstein had a similar desire to help humanity, they both faced severe consequences for the same. The theme conveyed by the texts presents a similar thing. Sometimes the path chosen is wrong which leads to one’s downfall even if their intentions are pure. There are a few commonalities in both, the monster and Frankenstein.

  • They both lack morality and continue doing things that are dangerous. Frankenstein created the monster despite his mentors telling him not to do so. He was careless and did not listen. And when he saw his final creation, he abandoned it without thinking of the consequences. And in return, his creation, the monster, killed all his dear ones.
  • They both felt isolated and lonely. Frankenstein kept himself away from everyone due to his obsession with science and technology. The monster was lonely because he had no friends and relations and nobody talked to him due to his appearance.
  • Hatred and vengeance are other common qualities between the two. They both want to kill people. Frankenstein wants to kill the creature because it is dangerous and the monster wanted to kill everyone, especially the people that are close to Frankenstein. 

9. Who is Prometheus similar to?

How are Frankenstein and Prometheus alike? Prometheus and Frankenstein are similar and Frankenstein is often referred to as The Modern Prometheus. Frankenstein also got this title because of the similarity he shared with Prometheus in helping humanity with their creations. But the path that he followed was not ethical. He stole the fire from Mount Olympus against God’s will and that led to his downfall.
