Warner Bros is an American multinational mass media and entertainment company known for its film studio. Based in California, it was founded in 1923 by four brothers: Harry, Albert (Abe), Sam, and Jack Warner. Before diversifying into television, animation, and video games, the company had made its name in the film industry. They also became a member of the Motion Picture Association (MPA). The shows and episodes by Warner Bros have given Acme a reputation by showing products named after it everywhere possible.

It is said that Chuck Jones, who was best known for his work as an animator for Warner Bros, came up with the idea of using the term Acme in the Looney Tunes Show. But he never credited himself for using that word. Chuck Jones mentioned in an interview that the reason behind using the term Acme in cartoon shows was the prevalence of this term in the market. It is a common and noticeable name for companies wanted to be at the top in the Yellow Pages.

To make the cartoon stories interesting, the whole team made up a store for all their needs in the show and named it Acme store, Acme corporations, or Acme products. It was mainly done to join all their cartoons to make the shows much more exciting. So, according to Chuck Jones, if they had to choose or come up with a store name where the cartoon characters will get the products that eventually won’t work, then why not a word that signifies irony, like Acme.
