Obesity is one of the biggest problems in our society worldwide started especially in the 2000s. Ignorance and laziness start developing obesity, topping them with bad eating habits, and no exercise leads to the conversion of proteins and minerals to fat deposits. Nowadays it is also seen that some people develop obesity by eating unhealthy due to stress and depression and eventually this starts becoming a cycle as obesity, in turn, induces more stress and depression not to mention the diseases caused by obesity. Consumption of excessive oily food results in extra cholesterol and carbohydrate deposits in the body making a bad impact on one’s muscle joints and heart. So today we’ll be recycling some of these diseases caused by obesity in this article.
Obesity Problems and Associated Risks
There are a lot of risks lurking behind the monstrous obesity which looks very silent and relaxed. A human body just like any other machine needs regular exercise to break down the proteins, carbohydrates, and nutrients absorbed from the food to circulate it to all the parts of the body through the bloodstream. When the muscles don’t get enough workout, the proteins and the nutrients start depositing with the flesh on certain parts of the body which experience less muscle motion throughout the day as compared to the other body parts. (See Why exercising with air conditioning on is a very bad idea?)
Overweight health conditions lead to a lot of problems physically as well as mentally. Let’s discuss the types of diseases caused by obesity.
1. Mental Illnesses
This is one of the important diseases caused by obesity. Lots of studies say that people with obese bodies have been going on from a bad phase of life and hence choosing food as their escape from it makes their bodies obese due to uncontrolled and impulsive eating. For many people, obesity becomes the first thing to pop the fragile bubble and makes them self-conscious to the point where their self-esteem takes a hit and gives way to mental illnesses like social anxiety and depression. These can eventually lead to Bipolar personality disorder, low self-esteem, and suicidal tendencies (See How to Heal Yourself Emotionally?)
2. High Blood Pressure/Hypertension
More than 75% of Americans are overweight and this is the sole reason for high blood pressure problems there at an early age. According to the current statistics, a push for a smart lifestyle with utmost comfort is moving people towards laziness and obesity. The excessive fat stored by the body is considered an energy reserve by the brain due to the release of specific hormones and hence raises high blood pressure or hypertension. Another serious problem occurs in the gall bladder for people with a greater body mass index or BMI. The liver secretes bile juice, which further breakdowns down energy stored by the gall bladder. However, if higher fat consumption takes place, it, in turn, produces tough cholesterol-containing bile, which deposits as a stone in the gall bladder called gallstones. This is mostly found in females and these diseases caused by obesity have serious consequences such as cancer in the gall bladder, Pancreatic inflammation, and abdominal pains leading to hospitalization. 4. Diabetes Type II
The development of belly fat decreases insulin sensitivity in the body, creating resistance towards insulin, which is the first step towards diabetes type 2. This leads to the pancreas towards lesser insulin production and the excessive presence of glucose forms a layer of insulin-sensitive tissues leading to a lower response towards it. This can lead to frequent urination due to increased thirst, impromptu infections, prolonged curing of sores, and even vision problems. (See 10 Rose Apple Benefits)
When the bloodstream is filled with abnormal cholesterol and fat, the lipid-protein density in the blood goes down which thickens blood flow in the arteries causing the condition of dyslipidemia. This is directly connected to a higher level of fat in the body, especially belly fat. This low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is a type of cholesterol that is very much harmful to health as it may send stroke tremors to your brain and even cause a heart attack. The various side-effects include coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, heart palpitations, dizziness, and swelling in the abdomen, neck, ankles & legs. 6. Various Cancers
Not to scare you but there are more than 13 cancers caused by obesity, from head to legs, nowhere can be spared. Being overweight can develop a tendency of the body to develop more insulin above and beyond normal levels. These risk factors can even lead to prolonged changes in genes. From the food pipe to the rectum portion, there’s a full-fledged list of cancers caused due to obesity namely, brain cancer or meningioma, colon cancer, esophagus adenocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer. Excessive load on the joints leads to cartilage degradation resulting in nothing but osteoarthritis aka the most common type of arthritis. Obesity is the direct reason why more & more young people are getting these diseases. When your body mass surpasses the ability to be handled by the bone joints, it leads to the fraying of the bone oil i.e., cartilage which helps in the smooth functioning of the joints for rigorous activities. This causes pain in bones and muscles while performing day-to-day activities and eventually leads to more severe conditions like inflammation in joints, joint and tissue rupture, or worst of all, lifelong disability. (See How does it feel to break a bone?)
8. Heart Diseases
Obesity problems, quite evidently, would lead to heart diseases. Cardiovascular activity of the body is directly affected when a person is overweight as it may function abnormally due to mixed signals of energy requirements across the body. This happens due to abnormal energy clump formations which can’t be further processed and have turned to fat deposits. This is what leads to heart failure too. There are a lot of possibilities like sudden cardiac death, an increase in the volume of the circulation of blood, and distortion in the structure and functioning of the heart. 9. Obstructive Sleep Apnea
You wouldn’t want your phone to lag while working or restart several times. Similar stuff happens when a person is going through sleep apnea when the breathing restarts several times while sleeping, one primary reason being obesity. Excessive fat deposits near the breathing tract break the flow of the muscles helping for smooth breathing due to the narrowing of the lane inducing extended efforts to continue the oxygen-CO2 exchange process. The condition is called obstructive sleep apnea or OSA. It is more common in obese children than in adults and can be found in those who snore while sleeping. Numerous consequences of OSA could be arterial fibrillation, lung problems and mini strokes. (Also read Are Nootropics Safe?)

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy, but all rest and no work will make Jack a weak boy too. Filling those muscles with an extra protein deposit wouldn’t be a nice idea, but working on them would be of a lot of use. So make sure you keep your obesity under control and under regular observation. (Also read Famous People With Vitiligo)
